Release notes

What changed in BucketDesk, newest first.

Deleted connections are erased

  • When you delete a connection, BucketDesk erases its AWS role details straight away and removes the rest of its record, with its shares, chats and job history, 30 days later.

Storage page

  • Workspace owners and admins can open the new Storage page from the sidebar to see total size, object count and estimated monthly cost for each connected AWS account.
  • See how your data splits across storage classes and how it has grown over 30 days, 90 days and up to 15 months.
  • Find space you can free up: old file versions, delete markers and unfinished uploads.
  • Check how much of your data is versioned, encrypted, replicated or locked.

S3 Savings fee by savings tier

  • The S3 Savings fee is now 10% of your first $10,000 in verified net savings, 20% of the next $40,000, and 30% above $50,000, over 12 months. Each rate applies only to its portion, so you always keep more when you save more.
  • Nothing is charged until verified net savings reach $500. The first charge includes the fee on savings before that point.
  • Before you apply changes, the fee table shows what a year of the expected savings would cost in fees.
  • Verified net savings now measure your S3 storage, request, retrieval and monitoring costs, after the extra AWS costs the changes cause and the tool's own running cost.
  • Savings beyond what your applied changes explain show as pending, outside the fee.
  • If a later month or a corrected report lowers your savings, you get a credit or a refund for the difference.
  • Your account keeps the fee terms you accepted, even if prices change later.
  • Monthly report emails now show cumulative savings, the fee owed, what was billed before and this month's charge or credit.

One-month trial and new plan names

  • The Ultra trial now runs for one month. Your card is charged only when it ends.
  • Plans are now called Minimum, Standard and Ultra. Nothing about what they include changed.

Tools page refresh

  • Tools now has its own entry in the side menu, marked New, instead of hiding inside Manage.
  • The Tools page opens with a reminder that tools run inside your own AWS account, and each tool card shows its icon, how many accounts are active, and a link to view the installed stack in the AWS console.

An invitation to try S3 Savings

  • A week after a workspace is created, its owner gets one email explaining the free S3 Savings assessment and what it costs if it finds savings. Workspaces that already installed a tool do not get it.

Tool run emails now carry the results

  • The email you get when an S3 Savings assessment or corrections run finishes now shows the verdict and the headline figures, such as current monthly cost, proposed reduction and buckets covered, instead of only the account number.
  • A failed run's email tells you what went wrong and that you can retry from the tool.
  • Monthly tool report emails show dollar, gigabyte and percentage figures with their units.

Setup links no longer expire

  • The "Continue in AWS" link and the setup email for your AWS admin now work for as long as you need. Before, the link stopped working 15 minutes after it was created.

Viewer polish and mislabelled Office files

  • Word and Excel files that are really RTF or the newer format inside now open properly instead of showing scrambled characters after a long wait.
  • A .doc that is really a saved web page (Word's "single file web page") now says so and offers the download, instead of churning and then showing scrambled characters.
  • The file name bar stays readable over documents and text files: it has a solid background there, and stays clear only over photos and videos.
  • The Details panel beside a full-screen preview is now a flush side panel instead of a floating rounded card.

Text preview polish

  • Scrolling a Markdown, code or text preview no longer shows a sliver of the document above the file name.
  • Box-drawing diagrams inside Markdown code blocks now join up instead of showing gaps between the lines.
  • The end of a long preview now scrolls clear of the floating "Ask about this file" button.
  • "Ask about this file" now works for JSON, XML, YAML, log and source-code files, not just documents and plain text.

Roomier, richer file previews

  • Previews give the file more room: Edit, zoom, rotate, fullscreen and the PDF page controls now sit in the row with the file name instead of a bar of their own.
  • Photos and videos sit on a soft, blurred copy of themselves instead of a plain white box, in the preview, the image gallery, the Details panel and grid view.
  • Grid view shows each photo whole instead of cropping it to a square.
  • Photos and videos fade in smoothly once they load instead of popping in.
  • Editing an Office file keeps the editor on screen until your saved version is ready, so nothing flashes blank after Done.

Rename files and folders

  • Rename a file or folder from its menu, or the folder you are in with the rename button next to delete. The name becomes editable right where it is: Enter saves, Escape cancels.
  • Folder renames run in the background, and a notification counts the files as they move.
  • If the new name is already taken, nothing is overwritten and you are told so.
  • Share links and tags stay with the old name.

Fewer Office preview notifications

  • Opening a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file no longer adds a "Generating Office preview" notification.

Move files and folders

  • Move a file or folder from its "⋯" menu, or a file from the "⋯" button in its details panel. Pick the destination in a tree of the bucket.
  • Make a new folder right in the move window and move straight into it.
  • Drag a file onto a folder to move it there.
  • When the destination already has something with the same name, choose Keep both, Replace (Merge for folders) or Skip.
  • Big folder moves run in the background with a live count, and a finished move shows in your notifications.
  • Undo puts a finished move back where it was.

Card menu in grid view

  • Files in grid view now have a ⋯ menu on the card, with the same actions as the list: details, download, share, move, save, copy path and rename. On touch screens it is always visible.
  • While renaming, click away or press the Enter button inside the name field to save.

Upload whole folders, faster

  • Drop a folder onto a bucket, or pick one with "Choose a folder instead", and every file inside uploads with its subfolders kept.
  • Uploads run four files at a time, and large files send several parts at once, so big batches finish much sooner.
  • When files already exist, you answer once with Replace all or Skip existing instead of once per file.
  • Empty files, like .gitkeep placeholders, upload too.
  • A multi-file upload shows as one notification that counts files as they finish, instead of one per file.
  • Large folders no longer stop partway with "Too many requests", and brief network or server hiccups are retried automatically.

Clearer drag and drop

  • Dragging a file now shows a small card with its name instead of a full-size copy of the row.
  • The card shrinks when it is over a folder you can drop it into, and sinks into that folder when you let go, so you can see where the file went.

Drag files anywhere, pick several at once

  • Drop a file onto a folder in the breadcrumb or the sidebar folder tree, not only onto folder cards in view. Drop on the bucket name to move it to the top level.
  • Cmd-click (Ctrl-click on Windows) highlights several files, Shift-click highlights a run, and dragging any highlighted file moves them all. The drag card says how many.
  • The image gallery has big previous and next arrows on each side, swipes on phones, and loads the next photo ahead of time so it appears at once.

A cleaner, roomier workspace

  • The bucket, folder path and search now sit in the top bar, and each folder opens with its name and a count of what is inside. The small arrow next to a folder or file name copies its path, S3 URI, HTTPS URL or CLI command.
  • Upload, sorting and the list or grid switch sit together under the folder name, and you can now sort by size.
  • Folders show as cards above your files, and file rows drop the ruled lines for a softer look.
  • Hover a file to download, share or save it, or open the menu for more, without opening it first.
  • Grid view shows every file as a square card with its name, size and date.
  • The details panel now runs down the right edge and puts Download and Share under the file name, plus Ask AI for the documents BucketDesk AI can read.

BucketDesk tools with your plan

  • Paying workspaces apply S3 Savings changes without adding a card again: the savings fee goes on your plan invoice, with the fee terms confirmed once in one click.
  • When you buy a plan you can add BucketDesk tools in the same checkout, and Stripe's page shows the fee terms.

The details panel now shows a real preview for every file

  • PDFs show their first page in the details panel as soon as you select them, drawn from a small slice of the file instead of the whole download.
  • Text, code, Markdown, CSV and JSON files show their first lines.
  • PowerPoint, Word and Excel files show the cover image saved inside the file, with no conversion step.
  • Zip archives list their first entries and how many more are inside, read in your browser and never stored.
  • MP3, M4A and FLAC files show their embedded cover art, and font files show a sample set in the font itself.
  • Files that cannot be drawn get a card with the type, size and date instead of a blank icon. Archived files say "Restore to preview".
  • Grid view shows the same previews on each tile as it scrolls into view, so a folder of PDFs, documents and archives reads at a glance.
  • Photos taken on an iPhone (HEIC) now show their thumbnails almost instantly in the list and grid: BucketDesk reads the small preview the camera saved inside the file instead of downloading the whole photo.

A calmer, clearer look

  • Text is now deep navy on white and off-white surfaces, so pages are easier to read for longer.
  • Buttons are green pills, with one filled action per section so the next step is obvious.
  • Status badges, cards and the sidebar share one consistent style across every page.
  • File sizes, dates, counts and amounts line up in columns thanks to tabular figures.

Tools

  • A new Tools page in the Manage menu lists BucketDesk tools: integrations that install into your own AWS account through a CloudFormation stack you deploy and can read.
  • Each tool runs a free assessment first, shows what its stack is allowed to do, and asks you to authorize any update that would widen that access before it can be applied.
  • Assessments are free. Changes need a card on file, and fees are a share of the savings verified on your bill. Every finished run can be exported as a file.

S3 Savings tool

  • The first BucketDesk tool. Install it into an AWS account from the Tools page and run a free, read-only assessment: it reads your bucket configuration, CloudWatch storage metrics and three months of billed S3 usage, samples versions, unfinished uploads and access logs inside your account, and shows what your storage costs against public prices.
  • The assessment proposes corrections with their estimated savings and tells you which rest on observed evidence and which on stated assumptions. The page leads with what you pay now, what you would pay after the changes and what you save.
  • Add a card and apply the corrections you approve inside your account: expire old versions and unfinished uploads under your retention rules, move cold data to Intelligent-Tiering, and collect access evidence. Nothing is deleted directly, and deleting old versions always needs its own confirmation.
  • Tiering keeps every file instantly available by default. Each tiered bucket shows how much more archive and deep archive tiers would save, and you can turn them on per bucket after confirming the restore wait.
  • The page shows what you saved each month, when the rest of the savings arrive, what was changed in which bucket, and every bucket with its cost, status and next step. Remove BucketDesk's rules from any bucket at any time, exclude buckets from future checks, and download or print a monthly summary.
  • A monthly email shows verified savings against the first assessment, pending benefits and further opportunities.
  • No upfront price. Nothing is charged until the savings verified on your AWS bill pass $500; then BucketDesk bills 10% of what you save, for 12 months, on your BucketDesk invoice.

Setup email to your AWS admin now opens AWS directly

  • The "Send to your AWS admin" email now links straight to the CloudFormation page in the AWS Console, so your admin can create the stack without a BucketDesk login. Before, the link was missing its address and opened nothing.

Upgrade from the action you need

  • Upload, Share and Delete no longer sit greyed out on plans that do not include them. Clicking one explains what the plan adds and lets the owner start a trial or upgrade on the spot.
  • When a workspace runs out of operator seats, the owner gets an Add seats button right next to the message.

Switch from Business to Pro

  • Business owners can switch to Pro from the billing page instead of cancelling. The page lists the features you give up before anything changes.
  • The switch keeps your billing interval, any free trial days left and every operator seat in use, and your next invoice is at the Pro price.

Simpler sign-up

  • Signing up from a free trial link now says you are starting a 14-day Business trial and that card details come next.
  • Sign-up asks for your password once. Use the eye button to check what you typed.
  • Passwords need 12 or more characters and must not appear in a known data breach. You no longer need a mix of cases, numbers and symbols.

Sign-up no longer fails when the confirmation email is delayed

  • Creating an account now succeeds even if the confirmation email cannot be sent right away; the email is retried in the background.
  • You can delete your account from Profile settings before confirming your email address.

Send AWS setup to a colleague

  • After you save a connection, a new "Send to your AWS admin" button opens an email in your own mail app with the setup link, ready to send to whoever can create IAM roles.

Scrolling long folders keeps your place

  • In folders with more than 100 files, loading more no longer drops newer files above what you are looking at. The list switches to A to Z order, so new files always arrive at the bottom.
  • A "Pick up where you left off" button takes you back to the last file you opened after the switch.
  • The "Date taken" sort option is gone. Capture details still show when you open a photo.

Try real previews before connecting AWS

  • The guided workspace now opens real sample files: a contract and an invoice in the PDF viewer, a scanned receipt, a short video, Markdown and text notes, and the contents of a zip.
  • It opens on the contract, so you see a working preview before setting up any AWS access.

Smoother file previews

  • Long code and Markdown previews now show a back-to-top button once you scroll past the first screen, so the close and menu controls are always one tap away.
  • The preview header sits flush against the top of the panel while scrolling instead of leaving a strip of content peeking above it.
  • The toolbar's "More actions" button no longer pops a tooltip over its own menu.

Monthly team summary

  • On the 1st of each month, owners and admins of Pro and Business workspaces get an email with last month's activity: people who opened files, files opened, shares sent and opened, uploads, restores and document questions, each compared with the month before.
  • It holds counts only, never file names. Turn it off under Settings, Notifications.

Simpler retention for extracted archives

  • When an extraction's retention period ends, BucketDesk now deletes the whole folder it extracted into, including any files you added to that folder later. Extractions that are already scheduled keep their original behaviour.
  • BucketDesk no longer keeps a list of the file names inside your archives.
  • The workspace cost estimate now counts files from recent extractions that are still in your bucket.

Faster follow-up questions in document chat

  • Follow-up questions about the same document now reuse the document Bedrock already read, so answers start sooner and cost less in your AWS account when you use a Claude model.

See which BucketDesk user acted, in your own CloudTrail

  • Actions BucketDesk takes in your AWS account now carry the email of the person who asked for them, as the source identity in AWS CloudTrail. Connections set up from now on get this automatically; existing connections get it the next time their CloudFormation stack is updated, and keep working unchanged until then.

Annual offer and shared-file branding

  • The email before your Business trial ends now offers annual billing with 2 months free. Reply to it and we will switch you.
  • People you share a file with can click the BucketDesk logo on the shared page to learn what BucketDesk is.

Emails during your Business trial

  • When your Business trial starts, you get an email with the date it ends and how to connect your first bucket.
  • If no bucket is connected after two days, we send a short guide to the IAM role setup and an offer to set it up with you.
  • On day five, if you are the only person in the workspace, we suggest inviting your team as free viewers.
  • Three days before the trial ends, you get a reminder of the charge date, with a link to change plans or cancel.

API tokens always expire

  • New API tokens expire after 30, 90 or 365 days. Tokens created without an expiry now expire one year from today.
  • Changing your password now also signs out your API tokens and connected AI assistants, not just your other devices.

API token reminders and sources in document answers

  • You now get an email a week before an API token expires, so you can swap in a new one before scripts or agents stop working.
  • Document chat answers now say where each fact came from, with the page for PDFs or the section or heading for other files.
  • With a Claude model, answers about a PDF list the pages they were drawn from.
  • Claude Sonnet 5 is no longer offered for document chat, because AWS does not make it available to accounts.

Safer AI connectors and connections

  • Claude, ChatGPT and other AI connectors now ask you before creating a share link, and they can share whole folders only with members of your workspace.
  • A queued folder delete no longer runs if the person who started it has since lost permission to delete there.
  • Office preview copies left behind by an interrupted preview are now cleaned up from Microsoft 365 automatically.
  • BucketDesk now accepts only modern encrypted connections (TLS 1.2 and 1.3).

Safer permanent deletes and sign-in

  • Deleting files or folders for good (when there is no recycle bin or versioning to bring them back), and emptying the recycle bin, now asks you to confirm your password first. You are asked at most once every three hours.
  • Repeated wrong passwords for one account are now limited per hour, wherever the attempts come from.
  • Files opened straight from a bucket can no longer run scripts in BucketDesk.

Errors show as a notice, not a blank page

  • When an action is not allowed, a page has expired or something fails, you now stay on the page and see a short notice explaining what happened, instead of a full-screen error box.

File names in activity and notifications are now encrypted

  • File and folder names recorded in your activity log and notifications are now stored encrypted.
  • Activity search now finds events by action or event ID. It no longer matches file names, buckets or email addresses.

Cleaner disconnects and record retention

  • Deleting a storage connection now tells you exactly which CloudFormation stack or IAM role to remove in your AWS account, and BucketDesk stops using that connection's AWS access straight away.
  • Expired and revoked share links, and finished uploads, restores and folder deletes, are removed from BucketDesk 90 days after they end.

Share links from Claude and ChatGPT open correctly

  • Share links created through the Claude or ChatGPT connector now open BucketDesk instead of a broken address.

Archive jobs from Claude and ChatGPT start again

  • Asking Claude or ChatGPT to zip a folder, or to list or unpack a .zip, through the BucketDesk connector now starts the job instead of failing.

Connection settings in dark mode

  • The setup method cards, notices and status labels on the connections page are now readable in dark mode.

Tighter archive worker permissions

  • The AWS template for archive extraction now only lets BucketDesk run its own archive worker image in your account, pinned to an exact version. Update your BucketDesk stack in CloudFormation to apply it.

Activity log and notification retention

  • The workspace activity log now keeps 13 months of history, and in-app notifications are removed after 90 days.

Security hardening

  • Viewers can no longer create share links or upload files. Only operators, admins and owners can.
  • Removing a member now revokes the share links, API tokens and Claude or ChatGPT connections they created in that workspace.
  • Resetting your password now also signs out your API tokens and connected AI apps.
  • Share links pause while their storage connection is being edited or fails verification.
  • Signing out clears AI chats and recent searches from the browser.
  • HTML and script files open as plain text in previews instead of running as web pages.
  • AI answers no longer show images, so a document cannot make your browser load outside content.
  • Office preview copies are now deleted from Microsoft 365 right away, not left in its recycle bin.
  • Workspace owners and admins will need two-factor authentication (an authenticator app or a passkey) to manage connections, members, retention and API tokens from October 20. A banner shows the date until then. Files, sharing and billing are not affected.

Send saved files as a delivery pack

  • Open the Saved view and use the share button to send every file you starred to a client as one delivery pack.

Delivery packs

  • Send every file with a tag to a client as one delivery pack: open the tag in your files and choose Send as delivery pack.
  • Choose a snapshot to send exactly the files tagged now, or a live pack that follows the tag as you add or remove files.
  • Your client previews each file in the browser and sees a checklist of what they have opened.
  • On the Business plan, a snapshot pack comes with a zip of every file, prepared when you send it, so your client downloads everything in one click.
  • The Shares page shows which files in each pack were opened or downloaded.

Connect Claude and ChatGPT with a sign-in

  • Add BucketDesk to Claude or ChatGPT as a connector by entering `https://app.bucketdesk.com/mcp`. You sign in to BucketDesk, pick a workspace and choose read-only or read and write. There's no token to copy.
  • A connected app appears under Settings → API tokens. Revoke it there to disconnect it.
  • Business workspace admins can connect, the same people who can create API tokens.
  • ChatGPT deep research and Claude can search file names across all your connected buckets and read text files, such as notes, CSVs and code.

Clearer share activity

  • The access log on every share now shows which file was opened or downloaded.
  • Removed the Message link from the share details panel.

Folder deletes run in the background

  • Deleting a folder no longer holds the page while it runs. Once you confirm, the window closes and a notice lets you open the job, so you can keep working. When it finishes, the folder list refreshes and you get a message. If you are still inside the deleted folder, you are taken to its parent.

Simpler billing setup

  • Connecting AWS billing now takes one click: press Set up billing next to an account your buckets already use, and the AWS setup page opens straight away.

Start BucketDesk from AWS Marketplace

  • Subscribe to BucketDesk for free on AWS Marketplace, then sign in or sign up and pick a plan right away.

Recycle bin in the side menu

  • Recycle bin now sits above Jobs in the side menu.

Bulk actions on many files work again

  • Deleting many files forever from the recycle bin no longer fails with "The trash keys field is required."
  • Other actions that send a long list of files at once go through the same way.

Details panel stays in view

  • Opening a job, activity entry or share now shows its details beside the list even when the sidebar is open, instead of pushing them below the list.
  • Opening details now tucks the sidebar away to give them more room. You can reopen it at any time.

Delete a chat

  • You can now delete a document chat from the Chat page. Choose ⋯ next to a chat, then Delete; it is removed for good.

BucketDesk AI explains how your data is protected

  • Ask BucketDesk AI how BucketDesk keeps your files safe, for example how it reaches your bucket, what it stores, how sharing and AI chats are protected, and it answers from a checked list of facts about how BucketDesk actually works.
  • When a security question goes beyond that list, it says so and points you to support instead of guessing.

BucketDesk AI reads photo details

  • BucketDesk AI now reads the camera, lens, exposure and location of iPhone HEIC photos, not just JPEGs.
  • BucketDesk AI names the town a photo or video was taken near.
  • BucketDesk AI answers are easier to scan: a one-line answer, then a short list with bold labels.
  • BucketDesk AI tells you when a file it was asked about is not there.

Smoother full-screen photos and videos

  • Opening a photo or video full screen now shows a soft shimmer in the space it will fill while it loads, instead of a plain "Loading…" message. Photos fade in once they're ready.
  • Photo and video thumbnails in the file list and grid shimmer while they load, then fade in.
  • Photos on shared links show the same shimmer while they load, then fade in.
  • Opening a chat now shows a placeholder shaped like the conversation while it loads, instead of a spinner, and more chats load in as placeholder rows while you scroll.
  • Lists now show placeholder rows while they load: workspace files (list and grid), the folder tree, notifications, the recycle bin, share link activity and shared folders.
  • PDFs show a page-shaped placeholder with the download percentage while they load.

Video thumbnails fill in while a file is open

  • When you open a video in the side panel, its row in the file list now shows the same frame instead of a plain video icon.

Cleaner video loading

  • While a video loads, you now see only the loading shimmer instead of player controls floating in the middle of the box.

Faster Business trial sign-up

  • Starting a Business trial from bucketdesk.com now takes you straight to checkout after you create your account. Confirm your email afterwards to open your workspace.
  • If you are already signed in, the trial link opens checkout instead of your dashboard.

Business trial length

  • Checkout now shows the Business trial as the full 14 days free. It previously showed 13.

Steadier previews

  • Videos open in a fixed-size player, so the screen no longer grows when the video starts.
  • The file name bar at the top of a preview is now one slim line, leaving more room for the file.
  • Loading placeholders only appear when something takes a moment, so switching between chats or files that load quickly no longer flickers.
  • Word, Excel and PowerPoint previews fill the page again, with no empty strip below and nothing cut off.

Smoother photo previews

  • Switching between photos in the details panel no longer flashes a file icon or makes the panel jump. The preview keeps its size, shows a soft shimmer while the photo loads, then fades it in.

A tidier side menu

  • Workspace, Chat and Shares now sit together at the top of the side menu.
  • Jobs, Recycle bin and Activity fold into a Manage group at the bottom, next to Connections. The menu remembers whether you left it open, and a dot shows when you're on one of its pages while it's closed.
  • Chat is always in the side menu. On plans without document chat it shows a lock and explains what Business adds.

Get to the Recycle bin from where you delete

  • After you delete files or a folder, a message confirms they went to the Recycle bin, with a View button that opens it.
  • Recycle bin only shows in the side menu for people who can delete files. On plans without it, it shows a lock so you know it opens the upgrade page.

Easier-to-read numbers

  • Large counts now show thousands separators across the app, such as "46,000 deleted" on Jobs and "24,056 events" on Activity.

Previews stay up when a folder loads many files at once

  • Opening a folder full of photos or documents no longer causes errors across the app while the thumbnails and previews load.

A simpler file preview header

  • The file preview header is lighter: the file's name, folder and size on the left, and just Ask about file, a ⋯ menu and Close on the right.
  • Ask about file has a new look so it's easy to spot.
  • Share, download, save, details and delete now live in the ⋯ menu, which also says why an action is unavailable.
  • New keyboard shortcuts in the preview: S to save, I for details and D to download.
  • Office documents no longer show an extra "Read-only Microsoft Office preview" bar above the document.

Portrait photos keep their shape

  • Photos taken in portrait on a phone now show upright and in proportion in file thumbnails and the details panel preview instead of squashed.

Folders with macOS icon files zip and restore

  • Folders copied from a Mac that contain hidden "Icon" files now download as a zip and restore from cold storage instead of failing.

Folder zips after a stack update

  • Folder zips no longer fail to start on connections whose AWS stack was just updated.

Faster file browsing

  • Thumbnails, previews and folder listings load noticeably faster, especially in folders with many photos and videos.

See the file beside your chat

  • Open file on a chat now opens the document, including files at the top of a bucket.
  • The document chat now sits beside the file instead of covering it, so you can read the file while you ask about it.
  • Open file on a saved chat reopens that conversation next to the file, so you can pick up where you left off.

Business free trial

  • Try Business free for 14 days. Your card is charged only when the trial ends, and you can cancel before then.
  • The billing page shows when your trial ends.

BucketDesk AI in your workspace

  • A new BucketDesk AI button sits in the corner of the workspace. Ask it about the files in the bucket you have open, and it looks through your folders to answer.
  • It can tell you when, where and on what camera your photos and videos were taken, using the location and date your phone or camera saved in the file.
  • The ? button in the chat lists example questions you can tap to put in the message box, and what it can't do yet.
  • Open a document and the same bubble switches to chatting with that file, replacing the separate Ask about file button. There's no start step: just ask. Switch between This file and This folder in the message box, and use the bookmark to choose whether a file chat is kept for 30 days.
  • Pick the AI model in the message box, as in Claude; models that still need access in your AWS account are shown but locked. Your connection's default is chosen to start with, your pick is remembered, and you can switch in the middle of a chat.
  • The chat panel is taller, using nearly the full height of the window.
  • After each answer, BucketDesk AI suggests two or three follow-up questions; click one to put it in the message box.
  • It only reads. It never changes, shares or deletes anything, and your conversation stays in your browser tab.
  • Developers can get the same photo and video details from the API and the MCP server.

Logo link on sign-in pages

  • Clicking the BucketDesk logo on the sign-in, sign-up and password pages now opens the home page normally instead of showing it in a pop-up over the form.

Know whose workspace you're in

  • When you work in a workspace someone shared with you, the side menu turns violet and a strip at the top says whose workspace it is and your role, for example "Workspace of JeVaughn · Viewer".
  • Switching workspace now shows the new workspace's files straight away, without reloading the page.

One recycle bin for all your buckets

  • Recycle bin now has its own page in the side menu. It lists deleted files from every bucket you can delete in, grouped by when they were deleted. Filter by bucket or by who deleted them, show only files expiring within 7 days, or search by name.
  • Each file shows who deleted it, where it came from, and how many days it has left before it is removed for good.
  • Select several files to restore them or delete them forever in one go, or empty the whole bin at once.
  • After you restore files, an Undo button puts them back in the recycle bin.

Thumbnails for phone videos and photos

  • Videos recorded on a phone now show a frame from the video in the file list, instead of a plain video icon.
  • HEIC and HEIF photos now show a thumbnail in the file list and grid.

Logging out goes straight to the home page

  • Logging out now takes you to the BucketDesk home page, instead of showing it in a pop-up over your workspace.
  • Deleting your account does the same.

Clearer workspace invitations

  • Invitation emails now match the rest of BucketDesk's emails, name who invited you, and have a one-click Accept invitation button.
  • When an invitation can't be sent, for example when you resend too soon or run out of seats, the Members page now tells you why instead of clearing the form as if it had worked.
  • You can re-invite someone right after revoking their invitation, without waiting a minute.

Image previews for more files
